Brian and Nick have spent the better part of the last two years sourcing unique ideas and judging them on how cool they are. Have they figured out what it means to be cool, and more importantly, is that cool?
Listen to the Episode 100 intro and read a transcript of the full 5 minute podcast episode below:
DANA: How cool is it that we're dating guys that have a podcast?
HANNAH: Have you ever thought about this before? Cause I don't think I have.
DANA: Yeah, I don't think I've thought about it on like a meta level that way.
HANNAH: No. Yeah, you're right. And now I can't, now I'm going to think about it.
DANA: Yeah. I would say that when you put it into that context, it's not very cool because a lot of guys have podcasts.
HANNAH: I think that, I hear that. I think makes sense to me. I just, I associate podcasts with guys like in New York city of a certain age.
DANA: It's a pretty podcast heavy city.
HANNAH: It is.
DANA: But I think it seems though, like they're doing something a little bit different than your run of the mill podcast.
HANNAH: I definitely would agree. And I like the fact that they're able to put themselves under the microscope same way as they would any of the ideas. That’s pretty cool. It's like, you know, a lot of people just want to have like authority, but not answer to fans, you know. I would consider us fans.
DANA: Yeah. And also perhaps their toughest critics.
HANNAH: It’s medium cool to date a guy with a podcast. But it could go either way, right? Cause like sometimes guys in Brooklyn or Harlem with podcasts have great podcasts.
Like, you know, where they talk about how cool stuff is.
DANA: Okay.
HANNAH: Some guys they don't have good podcasts. It's a big population. So I don't know It might be just like medium cool.
DANA: I think I would agree with that. When we look at like, what they're actually doing in the content and how different it is then I think it's very cool.I don't know if I would go as far as very cool.
HANNAH: I would say medium, medium. Cool.
DANA: Like temperate. You know, not too hot, not too cold.
HANNAH: Like, like tea, like room temperature.
DANA: Yeah. Room temperature cool.
HANNAH: Do you think that it is important that they pick a lane? Like get really hot or really cool?
DANA: Mm.
HANNAH: Like, I don't know. Room temperature is not bad.
DANA: I'm interested to see where the next iteration of this goes.
HANNAH: I liked the fact that it's like only five minutes long. Super cool to me. Cause it's nice and short.
DANA: I think that's a good format; it's manageable. Not many podcasts are that short.
I think it would be really cool if Hannah and I started our own podcast called how hot is this?
HANNAH: You know what I think people would listen.
DANA: I think so too. You know, we've covered off on the cool demographic, but I think the fans want to know about the hot demographic too.
HANNAH: And I don't know, what's like cool. I do think that I still have like a finger on the pulse of what's hot.
DANA: How cool is it that they've made it to a hundred episodes?
HANNAH: That's super cool. I think, cause that's like commitment.
DANA: I totally agree. I think they've come a long way and to stick with something that long was probably more than I could do, especially during a pandemic.
HANNAH: Have you done anything a hundred times?
DANA: I did reach a hundred Peloton rides yesterday.
HANNAH: I mean, you're the first person that I know who’s done that.
DANA: . Are there any other questions we should answer?
HANNAH: I don't know. I think we decided that it is medium cool that we're dating guys that have podcasts.
DANA: Mmhmm.
HANNAH: And that is very cool that they've reached a hundred episodes and are doing it. And that the podcast is cool because short, but also room temperature in the right way.
DANA: Yeah, you don't want, you don't want to drink ice cold water. That's too cold.
HANNAH: It’s like Goldilocks.
DANA: Yeah.
HANNAH: And the bears like..just right.
DANA: I think I'm getting like a little too meta.
HANNAH: I know, I think we only needed five minutes, I guess. Right. So hopefully they have fun cutting this.
DANA: That’s fine.
HANNAH: Should we talk more about how hot is this offline?
DANA: Everyone listening at home. Just look out for how hot is this? You heard it here first.
HANNAH: Keep your eyes peeled and your ears to the ground.
