Lee has an idea that helps dog owners collect hard to pick up dog poop. Can cardboard squares help keep sidewalks clean? And more importantly, is that cool?

Lee: Hi, I'm Lee, the The House of Lee NYC. It's a little show about nothing. Really, I just give life's random hacks and tips and things. And I'm also the Co-Founder of Asian American Podcasters Association and the NYC Podcasters Network.
And, how cool is this? I have a dog, and walking my dog, I came up with the idea of cardboard little squares to help pick up those droopy poops. So I think someone should invent that. I use cereal box tops, but how cool would it be if you could just buy them in the store? Droopy poop paper? I don't know. I just think that'd be really cool.
And I was thinking, I'm not sure what the name would be, but it would have to have poop, paper, something pickup... poop pickup boards, poop pickup… I don't know, something that makes your tongue twist.

Nick: Okay, Brian, how cool is Lee's idea for paper poop pickup devices?
Brian: Well, first I want to say that poop, itself, is not always cool, but one of the least cool things that a person can do is to leave their dog poop behind. Lee has created a scenario that creates for a cooler world. And I appreciate that.
Nick: Any product that makes it easier for people to do something they don't want to do is a cool product. Regardless of what this product is called, this is a cool idea. It's a very cool idea.
Brian: Getting poop on your hand is not cool. And it's even worse when it's not your poop. We've all had poop on our hands when it’s our poop, but when it's another animal you don't want that.
Nick: Even if it's your dog that you love you don't necessarily want to touch what came out of there. This helps with that a lot.
Brian: I'm trying to think of what a good name for it would be.
Nick: It's a piece of cardboard paper that easily picks up poop. That's a little long for a name.
Brian: Droopy dog card, droopy dog board…
Nick: A paper poop pick-me-up.
Brian: The Dog Poop Droop Scoop.
Nick: Ah, that's pretty good - a lot of rhymes, a lot of plosive sounds. It's memorable. The Dog Poop Droop Scoop… I think that's a pretty cool name.
Brian: Thank you.
Nick: One thing I do have to point out is… how environmentally-friendly is this idea if we're just using a bunch of cardboard to pick up dog poop and then throw in the trash?
Brian: My thinking is that poop is already put into a plastic bag and thrown in the trash, so the most environmentally-friendly thing you can do is just to leave it out. And we're all not doing that. There's, not a civilized person who's going to prefer that.
Nick: I guess you're right. It is already being thrown away in something that's not environmentally-friendly. So we might as well make it easy for people to throw stuff away.
Brian: It's probably less environmentally-friendly than just leaving the droopy poop, but better for society collectively. And perhaps we can find different ways to offset our carbon emissions.
Nick: I think we can do that, especially since picking up more poop from the sidewalk helps with our collective mental health. No one wants to walk around and in an environment that is covered in poop. It just, for one, is not entirely sanitary and, two, would just make me kind of frustrated all the time if my shoes were covered in someone else's feces.
Brian: And if you have to wash off your shoes because they're covered in poo, that might actually be worse. I think it's a net zero.
Nick: How cool is it for Lee to come on the show and openly advocate for somebody else to invent, to bring to life, her idea?
Brian: That's originally what we designed the show for. It was for people who had interesting or cool ideas that they didn't know how to make, or they didn't care to make, but they thought it would be a cooler world if it existed. And I'm grateful that she did it.
